greetings, everyone:
i'm one of the resident djs and promoters for qoöl los angeles. we're the sister club to jondi & spesh's long-running qoöl in san francisco. for those of you who haven't heard of qoöl, it's a weekly happy hour dj event that's built an amazing, loyal following in s.f. we are hoping to bring that same communal vibe to l.a. you can check out our websites to get a better feel for what the events are about:
www.qoolsf.com
www.qoolla.com
we've been searching for a new venue since february and we think we may have found one. it's the soul folks cafe, near 6th and alameda. inspiration has been using this space for their friday afterhours and have a great event going on now (i just went last night and had an awesome time).
we've met the owner, and she's excited about qoöl and really wants us there. she's a chef by trade and has even offered to create a special "qoöl tapas menu" for our event! after seeing the space in action, i'd love to bring the qoöl vibe downtown.
my question for you all is this: would there be interest in qoöl if we do move downtown and start a weekly happy hour event? qoöl would go off every wednesday from 5-10pm, just as they do it in s.f.
i want to emphasize that we don't want to be tourists. we want to become an enduring presence in the community. in addition to playing our music, we want to collaborate with the artist community by exhibiting their latest work, holding fashion shows, installations...lots of possibilities waiting to be explored.
let me know what you all think...you can either reply to this post, or feel free to email me: dandjang at sbcglobal dot net
thanks in advance for your advice, it is much appreciated!
daniel
