We're leaving our badass loft after 2 wonderful years, and we're looking for someone that wants to take it. Its appx. 1700 square feet, and 3 stories high. Each story has a balcony that overlooks the main floor area. The kitchen and bathroom are on the second floor along with a bedroom, and there is another bedroom on the 3rd floor. It also has a garage with a pull up gate to the street. The location is in between Santa Fe and Mateo on Olympic. It has a private roof access door also, with a funky deck built on the roof. I dont know if the landlord is raising the rent, but we pay 1550/month plus 150 flat fee for all utilities. The neighbors are all extremely cool, and the building has a nice little community in it.

If you want us to hook you up with the landlord, let me know.

Its an industrial neighborhood. About 1 mile south of the artist district and the coffee shop.

Kinda like Beverly Hills, but with more homeless, factories and trucks, but far fewer lawyers and big houses full of people who have never spoken to their neighbors.

True, but the homeless people mind their own business, and they also double as a recycling pickup service.

            hahah... righton
kinda sounds like our old neighborhood in chicago near the Damen Blue Line.
Wicker Park / Bucktown pre-mtv realworld scum... lol.

is it an area with grocery stores or easy public transportation?
is it near culver city at all?

Its definitely not near culver city. And its downtown Los Angeles, so there arent many grocery stores. THere is public transpo though. Buses, and the subway.

                ok, so heres a question.
Downtown chicago... 'the loop' is pretty much dead after 6-7pm anyday of the week
is downtown LA like that as well?
i've been there but i was at the 'W' in westwood for work...

also... should i add 30min to any time estimate that map quest gives me for locations in LA?

i might be working in Culver City, however, commutes don't bother me much... gives time for reflection.

They say it takes 30 minutes to get anywhere in LA.. Morning commute would be 30 minutes to Culver City, in a car. Do you live in LA, or do you live in Chicago? Public transpo in LA is not quite what it is in other cities.. I never take it, so I dont about the loop. And if Westwood is your impression of LA, its far from this neighborhood downtown...

                    right on...
yeah i lived in chicago for 10years
and as far as impressions go, westwood was just my impression of westwood. i've been to enough cities to know that each neighborhood is kinda like it's own small town... that's what i like about the city.

your place sounds great though... i might really be interested in checking it out when i get there if its still available.
thanks for all of your input!
                    :)

For real.... most places are futher than 30 minutes away if you have to take traffic into consideration...

The neatest part of living downtown is that it has it's own sub-culture. If you're not afraid of homeless or crack-smokers, then you can find great solitude downtown. Lots of history. Bigger spaces. Way too much character. Not much more dirty than hollywood and at a much better price.

This loft is certainly a good deal though... if anyone hasn't already claimed it!

    Is this space still available?

Jesse and Josh are hard at work with Lucent L'amour (This Saturday), but I can tell you as far as I know the space is still availible, but the landlord put the rent up to almost $2000/month. It's a very unique space, but that's a lot of Jennies.

holy cacas! that sounds huge 1700 sq. feet? 3 stories?
im paying like $1500 now for a small office cramped with 3 design stations and like a 1000 sq. foot production area. IM SO GAME FOR THAT. hahahah and I was worried when they sold the property last month.
The only thing i'd miss is the Hydro Car Lifts which I rarely use anyway. except for metal fab. projects for signs and or destructive remote control robots and crap like that.
Still got a 2 year lease though. Hmmmmmmm

        So how's the internet access?

We've got dsl, and yes, the space is still available. If anyone is interested, here is the landlords name and number. The rent has been raised to 1956/month, but that includes all utilities...
