I know livin in downtown can be hard at times with the only store being rite aid and ralphs. but every day it seems to get better. almost ever day of the week there is a farmers market either in lil tokyo, 7th/fig, central library, and a couple others.
I live at Santee Court (3.5 years now), and we have a farmers market that opened last week. i love it, and you should too.
Please stop by and get some fresh fruit, veggies, breads, and listen to the live DJ.
